Shrek shits on the traditional fairytale. Shrek lampoons and parodies Disney. We can see a healthy rivalry between DreamWorks and Disney. In Shrek the prince isn’t charming; the princess isn’t the classical sleeping beauty. It contains many deeper moral messages.
Shrek is the most heroic and human character in the movie. He is an ugly ogre, but he is not evil – he’s misunderstood. “Don’t judge a book by its cover”
Shrek makes a comment to Fiona after she burps, ?you aren’t exactly what I expected,? and she replies, ?maybe you shouldn’t judge people before you get to know them.? This is clearly a moral statement, and it carries on through out the whole film.
Princess fiona, when she finally discovers her true love, she ends up turning permanently into an ogre. She is still in her eyes an ugly ogre, yet Shrek says ?but you are beautiful.? This is similar to judging people simply by the color of their skin, their ethnic heritage and their religion. The first and most oblivious moral of this movie is that beauty is on the inside.
Princess fiona has some secret, and she is terrified that people are going to discover it. We too sometimes hide our real selves for fear of rejection or censure. But if we don’t dare to reveal our true selves, then how will people come to see and understand the real ?us? beneath the surface and appreciate us for who we really are. Like Andre Gide has quoted ?It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not?.
Lord Farquaad, who is a peewee in this movie, gathers up all the fairy tale creatures and ousts them from his kingdom. This is for his kingdom to look better, for him to rule over the perfect race. This is what Hitler did in the War II by killing Jews, Gypsies, people with disabilities, and anyone else who did not look like a perfect aron.
In Shrek Forever After, the green monster is bored with being a baby daddy and husband. To spice up his life, he cuts a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to go back to being free and single, but winds up losing the love of his life and realizes that with a hard lesson. Sometimes we too are just tired of the people that love us the most .You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.
Rumpelstiltskin stand for all the wickedness and deception that are unmasked of their pretensions to goodness and truth. Not everything that sparkles is a diamond.
Not necessarily have to be perfect but ends “Happily Ever After”!!!
